Method of assessment of the dynamics of salivary function in rats during the experiment.

The dynamics of salivary function was studied on 80 laboratory rats. It was found that construction of a graph showing the dynamics of stimulated salivation in small laboratory animals could be successfully used in various studies.

Morphological and functional state of major salivary glands under conditions of aluminum chloride excess in drinking water.

Morphology and function of the major salivary glands were studied in 50 albino rats drinking water supplemented with aluminum chloride for 2 weeks. Against the background of normal gland appearance, the salivation function and the composition of the saliva were changed: the concentrations of sodium and calcium ions and α-amylase activity were reduced. In parallel, cholesterol content was increased by 54%.

[Saliva microcrystallization: new methodical approaches].

Results of the studies of saliva microcrystallization were summarized. It was shown that the use of new methods in silico let successfully divide saliva microcrystals in norma and in cases of different diseases of gastrointestinal tract, sugar diabetes of both types and prostate tumors.

Effect of ultrasound on major salivary glands in rats: dynamics of their functional state.

The effect of ultrasound irradiation focused onto the gonial angle of the mandibular bone (5-10 sessions) on salivary function of the major salivary glands was examined on laboratory rats. Repeated sonication modified the character of salivary secretion cycle. In addition, it qualitatively changed ionic composition of the saliva.

Morphology of rat submandibular salivary glands was examined before and after 10 sessions of ultrasonic treatment focused onto the gonial angle of the mandibular bone. The employed ultrasound protocol induced adaptive reactions and induced no degenerative and inflammatory processes.

Use of saliva crystallogenic properties for early diagnostics of prostate cancer.

Multivariate analysis was used to examine the morphology of mixed saliva crystals in 55 healthy men and the patients with suspected malignant prostate gland diseases. The established changes in the shape of dendritic crystals in the saliva from prostate-problematic patients were corroborated by the cluster and discriminatory analyse.

Crystallization of components oral fluid in diabetics in case of absence of crystal structures.

Crystallization of mixed salivary pools was studied in patients with types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus. The formation of microcrystals in two types of diabetes varied and could be differentiated by multidimensional analysis. If salivary crystallization was absent, the material could be evaluated by the texture analysis methods.

In experiments conducted on 903 rats, we have studied biometric characteristics of the major salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands) during ontogenesis. We have calculated the indices of non-directional fluctuation asymmetry for the submandibular and sublingual glands and determined correlation coefficients and coefficients of linear regression between salivary glands, rat body weight, and the weight of the femoral bone (the largest bone in the rat). The strongest correlation was found between the dry weight of the submandibular gland and the rat body weight. Mathematical analysis of the growth of the submandibular gland after sialotomy allowed us to derive a formula for the quantitative estimation of regeneration, taking into account the natural growth of the rat.

[Changes in the parotid salivary gland of rats with experimental prostatitis]. / Izmeneniia v okoloushnoi sliunnoi zheleze krys pri éksperimental'nom prostatite.

Experiments on 46 rats showed that infectious and allergic prostatitis led to development of dystrophic changes in the acinar tissue and ducts of the parotid glands. The cause of these changes is not clear; a humoral or neuroreflex relationship of a reactive type is suggested.

[The characteristics of the wound-healing action of solubilized alpha-tocopherol acetate]. / Osobennosti ranozazhivliaiushchego deistviia soliubilizirovannogo al'fa-tokoferola atsetata.

The rat experiments were made to compare the wound-healing action of solubilized (aqueous) alpha-tocopherol acetate (SATA) prepared by the original techniques and its official oil-based preparation. A course intravenous SATA (2 mg four times at an interval of 4 days) administration was found to stimulate epithelial regeneration and suppress the formation of connective tissue of uncomplicated skin wounds. By healing the complicated wounds, SATA potentiated the occurrence of an inflammatory reaction and slowed down regeneration, whereas its oily solution failed to produce this effect.
